What is Tenant Connect?

Tenant Connect is a mobile app that allows Property Managers and Landlords to conduct onsite and remote property inspections using HD video.

What are the differences between an Onsite and Remote HD video inspection?

Both onsite and remote inspections within Tenant Connect follow the exact same structured process and utilize the same features in the app to ensure thoroughness and consistency. The key difference lies in who is physically present at the property:

Onsite Inspection: The inspection is conducted solely by the property manager or landlord, who is physically at the property and using their phone's camera to capture photos and document the condition of each feature. The tenant may or may not be present during the onsite inspection - that part is up to you.

Remote Inspection: The inspection is conducted remotely. The tenant is at the property and uses their smartphone to transmit live HD video and audio to the property manager or landlord, who can be located anywhere. The tenant is directed to show each room and feature, and photos are captured from the live HD video stream, not a screenshot, to document its condition.

How do remote HD video inspections work?

Tenant Connect makes it easy with our remote inspection feature. Here's how it works:

  1. Scheduling: The property manager and tenant agree on a date and time for the inspection, and the property manager schedules it within the Tenant Connect app.
  2. Getting Started: At the scheduled time, both the property manager and tenant log into Tenant Connect. The property manager navigates to the scheduled inspections tab and taps "Start." (The tenant will receive a push notification on their phone once you start the inspection, prompting them to "Join" the call).
  3. The Remote Connection: The tenant needs to be at the property with their smartphone. The property manager can be anywhere in the world! Tenant Connect creates a secure HD video call between the property manager and tenant.
  4. More Than Just Video: This isn't just a simple video call. Both the property manager's  screen and the tenant's screen are equipped with clickable buttons and prompts within the Tenant Connect app. It's a fully featured inspection application with live HD video capability.
  5. Guiding the Inspection: The property manager directs the tenant to show each room and feature of the property that you need to inspect (e.g., the kitchen sink, the living room curtains, etc.). The app guides both parties, so both the property manager and tenant always know which feature is being inspected.
  6. Capturing Photos: The property manager can take high-definition photos of each feature directly within the app, asking the tenant to hold their phone steady for the shot. The photo isn't a blurry screenshot; it's a clear image captured directly from the live HD video stream. The tenant sees a "Photo Taken" notification momentarily pop up on their screen when the property manager takes a photo.
  7. Accessing Past History: While inspecting a feature, the property manager can quickly access notes and photos from previous inspections of that same feature. The tenant can see this information on their screen as well, ensuring transparency. This gives both parties a complete view of its condition over time.
  8. Submitting and Finalizing: Once you've inspected all the features, you tap "Submit" to complete the inspection and hang up the video call. The property manager can then review the entire inspection within the app – all the comments, photos, and assessments. No new photos can be added, and Yes/No conditions cannot be changed. When finsihed, tap "Finalize."
  9. Automatic Report Generation: Tenant Connect automatically generates a professional PDF report of the inspection, complete with all photos and notes. This report is automatically emailed to both the property manager and tenant for recordkeeping.

Remote inspections with Tenant Connect provide a transparent, efficient, and convenient way to stay on top of a property's condition, no matter where the property manager or tenant are located.

Who does the inspection? The property manager or the tenant?

For both Onsite and Remote Inspections, it is the property manager who performs the inspection.

Even though the HD video is transmitted from the tenant's phone to the property manager during a remote HD video inspection, it is the property manager who is responsible for determining the condition of a feature within the property, which is done by tapping "Yes" or "No" against the questions "Is it Working?", "Is it Clean?", "Is it Undamaged?"

Can I manage multiple properties?

Yes, Tenant Connect allows you to manage multiple properties, with each property's data stored separately. There is no limit to how many properties you can manage in Tenant Connect.

Can Tenant Connect generate automated PDF reports?

Yes, Tenant Connect generates detailed PDF reports of your inspections, which can be shared or stored securely. After the inspection data is "Submitted" at the end of your inspection, tap the "Finalize" button and this automatically generates the PDF report, which is emailed straight to the property manager and tenant.
